Airport Manners

My husband and I travel quite a bit. And when we do, we try very hard NOT to go through Miami International Airport. Or rather….we try to avoid the people that seem to frequent the airport.

I don’t know what it is about this particular airport…maybe the air…the water…who knows…but it sure breeds some intensely rude people. I have wondered in the past, if there is some sort of unspoken travel rule that if you are lacking in “general airport manners”, that you are directed to use this airport….because I have never, in all the airports I have traveled through, been so completely taken aback by the rampant rude behavior.

Let me paint you a picture:

The airplane lands…and you let out a sigh. You stand with everyone else and patiently wait your turn to disembark. Then off you go to find yourself standing with everyone else around the baggage carousel. As it starts up to begin delivering bags…something horrible happens. Remember all those nice passengers on the plane? Somehow they have turned into a bunch of raging maniacs…trampling, shoving and pushing with total abandon in their attempt to get to their bags with total unconcern for whomever they may find in their path.

I’m telling you it is amazing!!! In all the airports I have been in, I have never seen behavior like we see time and time again at the baggage carousels at the Miami Airport.

So…I will give you just a wee bit of advice. Should you ever find yourself at the Miami Airport….either hold onto your patience and wear steel-toed shoes, or stand well back and clear until the crowds find their bags and move on.

So….what about you? How have your airport travels been?
